It has a regal/elegant look but works for a boy. The pictures don't do the fabric justice at all. You really have to see it in person. For the price we paid I think we got a bargain. It looks much more expensive in person. Be aware the colors are NOT 'baby blue'...it's more of a 'sea green meets baby blue'. We waited to buy the paint til we had the item in hand and I suggest you do the same. We just love this set. Someone said it's better suited for a girl- while it could work for a girl- I still say it's masculine enough for a boy- if you are looking for a 'prince like' room. To help people out I wanted to give you the 2 paint colors that match BEAUTIFULLY with this set- The paint is Valspar from Lowe's....Belle Grove Buff (in the tan colored section) and Glass Tile in the blueish green section. It does coordinate really nicely with our gender neutral nursery and was the inspiration for the colors we picked. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends NOT using crib bumpers as they are a suffocation hazard for babies. So without the bumpers, this set of a quilt, crib skirt and 1 crib sheet isn't really worth the money. I do love the crib skirt and the quilt is nice looking. I don't use the crib sheet since I bought organic cotton crib sheets for our crib.
