The mattress is firm. The fabric is nice quality. It was easy to assemble & it's simple to lower the arms to form the bed.The mattress is about the width of a sleeping bag, so it's not even twin sized, but it's fine for one person. So in my quest for petite, this sofa-bed was a choice I made in hopes it would be a good one. I had a few moments of apprehension after unpacking and spreading out all the pieces, it came with merely 12 bolts/screws. I am a 59 yr old woman and had this puppy put together in less than 30 minutes total. I had to loosen some of the screws/bolts to get a piece to fit properly - I know better not to torque everything tight until somewhat put together. Added two more throw pillows that I found on Amazon for around 5 bucks and it looks pretty darn nice in my limited space. The frame is painted black metal and the pad and pillows are a very tasteful cocoa brown. It also seems to be sturdy (I'm not petite). My "not really a lap dog" was happy too, he had more room to give me a hug. I may purchase another for my office/spare bedroom. This futon sofa is the perfect answer to our needs. Most other futons have big bulky frames. This one is just right. When the arms are up, it's scarcely bigger than a loveseat. My husband was able to put it together in about 2 hours (and he's no engineer or mechanic). He only needed the little tool provided (no extra screwdriver). The mattress is comfy. Some futons come with springs for the mattress, and the springs can eventually sag. We're glad this futon does not come with springs. For this futon, the mattress rests on heavy-duty wire afixed horizontally and vertically, like a loosely woven net or fencing. |
